The head of FTX recently promised to sponsor Democrats
Now he has retracted his word and called it a “stupid quote”
Bankman-Fried has given everything to the will of the people and the power of the primaries
The head of cryptocurrency exchange FTX has withdrawn his word to donate $1bn to political campaigns, a promise he had previously made to Politico journalists.
“That was a silly quote. I think at times my statements have been rash and inconsistent,” SBF tells Morning Money in his new interview.
This is bad news for the leaders of the Democratic Party, whom Sam Benkman-Fried is sympathetic to. Things haven’t been going well for them lately – the economy’s problems have made fewer and fewer voters want to keep the Democrats in office.
However, the crypto-billionaire has already spent almost $40 million on political campaigns this year. And in 2020, he was among Joe Biden’s biggest campaign contributors.
“There comes a point when you get your message out to the voters. It’s no use doing anything further. You can keep spending time, you can keep spending money, you can keep talking – but you’re not going to do anything else.”
Sam Benkman-Fried believes the final primary will now decide everything.
Recall that the FTX head visited the White House during the debate on crypto-laws – as evidenced by the visitor log.
