Former CFTC commissioner joins board of FTX subsidiary

An interesting turnover has taken place in the ranks of Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX subsidiary. A former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner has joined the board of FTX US Derivatives.

Jill Sommers has reportedly led the agency under two US presidents. These were George W. Bush and Barack Obama. In total, she worked at the regulator for six years. Most recently, Sommers served as a senior advisor at consultancy Patomak Global Partners.

“The company has been at the forefront of bridging the gap between traditional and digital assets, while remaining true to its founding principles of transparency,” commented Jill Sommers.

The former CFTC commissioner is now part of the FTX US Derivatives team. This company deals with derivatives and is one of the leaders in its field.

Notably, there is already another former head of the Trading Futures Commission in the FTX ranks. We are talking about Mark Wetjen, who is now in charge of the company’s regulatory strategy.
